Chair, Member (elected parishioner)

Hello my name is Johan Demeester and I was born and raised in Belgium.  I attended middle and high school at a Catholic boarding school in Ghent run by The Christian Brothers, which    prepared me to go the University of St. Ignatius of Loyola in Antwerp where I obtained an MBA in 1969. I married and came to Canada the same year. I worked for several   corporations in different positions on different continents. Now I am retired and sit on different corporate boards where I use and share my business experience. I have been a Newman Centre parishioner since 1980 and witnessed changes and growth in different areas. I look forward to be part of the Parish Advisory Council where I think I can be a constructive contributor.

Hello, my name is Lisa Caballero and I am the Residence Coordinator representing the Student Campus Ministers on the 2015-2016 Pastoral Advisory Council. Recently, I completed my undergraduate degree with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. This fall, I am excited to begin the Master of Divinity program at Regis College. I am also excited to have the opportunity to serve a second year as a Student Campus Minister here at the Newman Centre. From the different ministry and mission experiences that I was blessed to be a part of, I have experienced first hand the joy that comes when the faith is intentionally shared with others.  I am excited to give back to the community by serving on PAC. God bless.

Member, (Elected Student)
Hello everyone! My name is Christian Ferraro. My formative years were spent in Collingwood, Ontario where I grew up as the second oldest in a family of eight children. Since high school I have undertaken a Basic Certificate of Christian Humanities at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy, a BA (Philosophy) at the University of Guelph and in April (with the Lord’s blessing) I will be graduating from the JD/MBA program through Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business. I have some professional experience in marketing as well as in the entertainment, non-profit, financial services and legal sectors. My wife (Athena) and I joined the Newman Centre Community two years ago when she began the Masters of Social Work program at U of T. We had our first child (Lucas) in May of 2015. I am honoured to join the Pastoral Advisory Council and to offer my perspective as both a student and parent.

Member, Liturgical Committee Representative

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie Privitera Patterson and I have been a part of the Newman Centre community since 2008. I have also just completed my first full year as Lector Coordinator. I am currently in my 10th year of teaching elementary school in the Durham Catholic District School Board where I teach in a school in Ajax. I live in Scarborough and travel to Newman because I love the community we have here, and I have a soft spot for its relationship with U of T, being a graudate of the University both with my BSc, and my MA. (It also helps that I was married at Newman by Fr. Chris in 2012!) This will be my second year on the Pastoral Advisory Council and I look forward to all that it entails.
