The
Newman Foundation of Toronto

The Newman Foundation
of Toronto exists to support the work of the Newman Centre Roman
Catholic Mission on the downtown campus of the University of
Toronto. The Newman Centre's mission is to encourage students
to deepen their faith, and to develop and strengthen tomorrow's
Catholic leaders. This is accomplished in a variety of ways:
-
The
Student Campus Ministry Team plays an important role in
the overall campus outreach. As members of the university,
who live in community at the Newman Centre, and through
their involvement in various ministries and programs, these
future catholic leaders witness to the Gospel, while deepening
and sharing their personal faith (peer ministry), helping
others to grow in the process.
-
Newman's
Campus Ministry is further propelled by a variety of new
and continuing programs, such as lectures, retreats and
socials. Particular groups who meet at Newman include the
Catholic Doctors Guild, Korean Catholic Students
- Legion of Mary, Pier Giorgio Frassati Society,
Development and Peace, and Students for Life
to name but a few. Of certain interest, and one in which
I seek your involvement, is in the Mentoring Program.
The initiative involves the pairing of students and young
adults with Catholics in established professions to offer
ideas and guidance on developing a careers, especially sensitive
to the concerns of our faith.
The Newman Foundation
also has a keen interest in maintaining and renewing ties
with Newman Alumni; those who have once called the Newman
Centre home or have had a connection with the community in
years gone by.
New members of
the Foundation are always welcome. The annual fee is currently
set at $50.00. Just fill out the membership form and mail
to the address indicated with your payment. Please
click here for membership form. Any additional
contribution would be very welcome.
