Youth Council

The Youth Council encourages university students and other young adults in the community (roughly ages 18-39) to come together to join in social, religious, and recreational events. The goal of the Youth Council is to build community and fellowship amongst the young people of the parish and to deepen their spiritual lives. New members are always welcome to join in our events!

Once a semester (in the Fall and in the Spring), the Newman Centre Youth Council organizes weekend long retreats outside of the city. These weekends are a balance of spiritual engagement and social interaction.
Once every two weeks, the Youth Council sponsors various social events either at the Newman Centre or throughout the GTA. Previous events include sporting events, live music, movie nights and daytrips.
The Youth Council organizes numerous activities to promote and develop the spirituality of the young people of our parish. These activities include providing spiritual direction, organized prayer groups, attending conferences, and joining ecumenical projects with the other religious groups in the area.
In the vision of Cardinal Newman, the Youth Council seeks to engage the world from an informed Catholic perspective. Each year, a series of guest speakers is invited to speak to our Youth Council members about contemporary issues that face young people.
